August was apparently all about the carbs. Carbs and snacks. Great for when you don’t have time to bake but want to eat, so….23 out of 24 hours of the day?? The end of August also means the return of the Pumpkin Spice EVERYTHING craze. And I am a-ok with all of it. Which also brings me to my first find:
Pumpkin Spice Cheerios
Why I Love It:
Well, for 1: PUMPKIN SPICE!! But, also, Cheerios’ newest flavor is made with whole grain oats, are gluten free, and are super delicious. They make a great choice for a sweet snack that is also full of fiber. And, they’re a great choice to curb that pumpkin spice craving over some other options, like a sugar/calorie packed latte.
What I Don’t Love:
These guys may have whole grain oats as the first ingredient, but, unfortunately, sugar is the second. I’d prefer for there to be a little less sugar, but it could be worse. Also, I’ve heard some people are having trouble finding a box already! Not sure if it’s because they just aren’t in all the stores yet, or they’re selling out quickly. Either way, the pumpkin spice craze is back and in full force, and THAT I am ok with.
Snack Factory’s Gluten Free Salted Caramel Pretzels
Why I Love It:
I thought plain gluten free pretzels were a rare sight, but gluten free salted caramel pretzels!? Yes, please! These mini pretzel crisps are thin and have the perfect crispness of a pretzel. But, to make them even better they’re dusted with salt and a caramel-ly flavoring. Sweet meeting salty at its finest.
What I Don’t Love:
This is totally a personal preference, but I think there is a little too much saltiness. It slightly overpowers the caramel. Also, after eating them you find there’s a bit of the powdery flavoring left over on your fingers. Similar to the cheese on a Cheeto, but not quite so severe.
Silicone Baking Cups
Why I Love It:
Functional and economical. What could be better? These silicone baking cups are an awesome replacement for the traditional muffin tin paper liners. They don’t stick to your baked goods, and don’t require any greasing, either! Also, since they’re washable, you can reuse them. You don’t have to stick to just muffins or cupcakes, though. I used mine to make my almond butter cookie dough cups, and it made life so much easier!
What I Don’t Love:
Not much. They’re a bit more expensive than the paper liners, but since they’re reusable you’ll still end up saving some dough. Dollar dough and cupcake dough…because they’re no stick! Get it!….ok I’m done….
Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel Poppers
Why I Love It:
Yes, another pretzel has made the list this month. These Snyder’s of Hanover cinnamon sugar pretzel poppers are more sweet than a sweet and salty combo. But, the classic pairing of cinnamon and sugar is hard to beat. These pretzels are a bit unique in that they’re pretzel “shells”, so they’re hollow, making them light, airy, and crispy. And all sorts of deliciousness.
What I Don’t Love:
Granted, these snacks have very little nutritional value. Of course, they’re also not the worst thing you could eat, by any means 🙂
What have you been snacking on this month?
Are you ready for the return of the Pumpkin Spice craze or over it already?
