In reply to Donna.

The hazelnuts are a pretty crucial part in the topping so you'd probably need someething similar to achieve the same consistency, unfortunately. You could give chickpeas a try, as that's be my only thought to a nut and seed free alternative.

In reply to Babs.

Hi Babs! I use different kinds of protein powders because of the different consistencies to the end products they produce. Using solely whey protein can produce a very gummy end product. While I haven't tried using different types of protein powders in this recipe, you could try pea or hemp protein. I don't use them mucb because they can have a very overpowering taste. Hope that helps!

Just found this recipe and it looks delicious. I have a question I hope you can answer. I’m allergic to milk/whey so I don’t use whey protein. Is there another type of protein powder that I could use in addition to the soy? Why do you have to use two different types of protein powder? Have you ever used the Truvani brand of protein powder? TIA

In reply to Mojoblogs.

This looks wonderful. Can you suggest a substitute for the topping that is nut & seed free due to anaphylactic allergy in our family? Would some sort of a chocolate mix (or cocoa powder & dates) or something work? I'd love to bake this.

AMAZING RECIPE!!! I had to stop by to let you know these are so good!!! I needed to let everyone know so they wouldn’t feel worried about making this and wasting ingredients. Don’t worry because it’s totally worth it! I will cut back on the chia seeds next time because of that crunchiness, but seriously I didn’t even care because they were just THAT GOOD! I always try to make healthier desserts to take the place of the bad things I eat and I’m usually disappointed. I want something on par and on the same level as my cakes or pies and this one is IT! most healthy desserts out there taste like a healthy oat bran breakfast or something, but this actually tastes like a dessert! I’m sorry, but I was shocked Thank you so much!
